one author's journey into the forbidden

a documentary by Kurt Lancaster

Take a hilarious journey with up-and-coming Portland, Oregon novelist Kirk Sigurdson as he enters the heart of Sasquatch country in the Cascade mountains of southern Washington.

This unscripted documentary includes on-street interviews in Hood River and a night expedition to Cultus Lake, as Sigurdson explores our desire for the unknown in a society that tends to shun myth and fantasy for the hermetically-sealed life of civilization.

Filmed on August 27 & 28, 2003 in Hood River, Oregon and Indian Heaven Area, Washington.

Kurt Lancaster teaches digital filmmaking at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. His short films include, “Plato’s Cave” and “The Kitchen” (Selections Boston Underground Film Festival, the Northampton Independent Film Festival, and the Durango Film Festival). He is the co-author (along with Cynthia Conti) of Building a Home Movie Studie and Getting Your Films Online (Billboard Books, 2001).

Kirk Sigurdson is the author of Cowslip (Terminus Books, 2003). He just completed his latest novel, Kultus: a Novel of the Pacific Northwest. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
